I Had Found Home
I grew up in a small town in Indiana and moved to Vestal NY when I was 18. When I visited Owego NY for the first time I felt like I had found HOME. We have lived in Owego for over 23 years. We have raised 3 girls that have attended the local school that all of the teachers know the girls by first name. We have attended every school concert, every play through out the years.
We walk to work, the girls have always been safe to go to the local pizza shop Originals by them selves or down to our amazing bookstore Riverow Bookstore which yes both John and Laura the owners know all 3 of the girls by name too. Did I mention the fact that this bookstore is a real bookstore 3 floors to explore, it is a dream bookstore, definitely the coolest I have ever been in. When we take our walks we run into so many members of our community, people that live and work in our beautiful village. We have one of the most beautiful entrances into our Village crossing the bridge over the Susquehanna, the first thing you seen are the beautiful street lights framing up our incredibly beautiful Historic Courthouse. You can take a walking tour of all of our beautiful Historic homes on Front Street and Main Street, be sure to check out our Movie Theater that has been here for over 80 years. We have so many wonderful gift shops that you can browse around in for hours. Within the square block you can choose from 7 places to eat, 5 places to get a hair cut, 3 banks, 3 insurance companies, an old jail converted to a pretty cool place to stop for a drink or bite to eat. Our Strawberry Festival attracts thousands of people every year for an old fashion day of fun. We have a wonderful Festival in the winter, Lights on The River it is just amazing to see so many thousands of people in our lovely Village walking through out the gift shops listening to the local High School band on the steps of the courthouse, enjoying a free cup of hot coco and donuts then they finish the night off with incredible fireworks over the river. I wish I could put into words the feeling of pride we have in our village that we chose to live in, we chose to raise our family in in very simple words it is truly the Coolest Little Town and it is home.
