Settled in 1787
The town of Owego was first settled in 1787 and has a long history as the Tioga County seat. It was very prosperous during the 19th century and many of the majestic homes along the Susquehanna River remain to this day. Back in the 1950s, IBM and the ENDICOTT-JOHNSON SHOE COMPANY among other companies were the major employers and made a great

Charming and Quaint
Owego has to be one of my all time favorite places. Watching fireworks over the Susquehanna on a crisp December night or listening to a free concert in Hickories Park on a hot summer evening are just a couple of ways to enjoy what this town has to offer. My favorite sight is driving over the bridge approaching the court house, the lights on the new bridge are charming and quaint and frame the court house perfectly, gives me a chill just thinking about it.

I cannot begin to say how grateful I am for the wonderful childhood I had in the small town of Owego, New York.
Ghosts in the Jailhouse
There are stories of "Ghosts" in the Jailhouse Restaurant, previously the Old Jail, a "Fireman Holding A Baby" Monument on the front lawn of the Courthouse, and the everflowing Squahanna River running right thru the Coolest Small Town in America. People are friendly and always willing to help each other.
The Hamptons
I moved here two years ago from what many might consider the coolest place on the northeast, "the hamptons" - yea where the rich and famous live and many more folks like me who just try to live a happy life. I came to visit friends one weekend and fell in love with this little town, why - the people. Isn't that what really makes a town cool. I heard stories about the two floods
